Wanthiwa! It means Hello in Yindjibarndi!
Coming in two colour ways, both have been colour matched to native flowers found on Yindjibarndi Country as a way of using the merchandise we create as a platform to teach and share our culture with the world. As Yindjibarndi people we are connected to all the plants and animals on our land. Our elders teach us all they know about the plants and flowers and their uses as food and medicine, and we share that information with our younger generations so the know and understand where they come from and how important it is to take care of the Country.
The pink has been colour matched to the jiwarnjiwarn (patterson’s poison) flower, this plant is found on Yindjibarndi country and flowers its bright but very small fuchsia flowers during the peak wildflower season July-September.
The yellow has been colour matched to the ngawurdan (bush cucumber) flower, a plant that grows like a vine with a small, green fruit a bit like a passionfruit that is good to eat raw or cooked.
