Gabrielle Cheedy

Gabby is an emerging Yindjibarndi artist and maker. She is a granddaughter of renowned YIndjibarndi Cultural Custodian, Teacher and Elder, Ned Mayurabingu Cheedy, (winner of the 2012 Australian NAIDOC Aboriginal Person of the Year, before he died at the age of 105, and renowned Yindjibarndi plants specialist, Cherry Cheedy.

Her artworks celebrate her Yindjibarndi ngurra (country).She has recently begun creating traditional Yindjibarni fish traps and other women’s artefacts, and since early 2019, has participated in Juluwarlu Art Group activities and workshops.
