Joelene O'Meara
Joelene began painting and making yarranga marni carvings at the Juluwarlu Art Space in 2018. Now an emerging artist, her work has been selected for showing at Perth-based and Pilbara exhibitions. She also works with other artists on shared works, and particularly likes learning about Yindjibarndi Law, Country and Creation Stories on field trips and artist camps on the Yindjibarndi tablelands. She has said, “A week before I made this yarranga marni, I went with other artists to Binyjimaninjarri where I’d never been before. There was a creek valley, and all around big hills of broken red rock. This was where we found the Wadjirru we were looking for. That day was very special for me”.
