Tenellia Lockyer

Biju is a young prolific emerging Yindjibarndi Artist with strong cultural knowledge and connections with her Cheedy Grandparents’ country who began creating yarranga marni (carved boards) and acrylic paintings on canvas in 2017 as part of Juluwarlu’s Nyinyart Yinda Water Artists Cultural Futures Residencies Programs. Over the past 18 months, Biju has created some wonderful artworks that draw upon her unique reflections on her Yindjibarndi relationships with her ngurra (country), the rain, yinda (deep permanent pools), and ijarri (spings) that bring life to the plants, animals, fish and insects that have nourished Yindjibarndi people for more than 2,000 generations. Biju’s artworks have been selected by curators and shown and sold well at many Perth-based and Pilbara exhibitions.
