Every Yindjibarndi person belongs to one of four Galharra (skin groups) – Burungu, Balyirri, Garimarra, and Banaga.
Through our Galharra relationships, all Yindjibarndi are connected like an extended family, with clear rules of respect and discipline. This enables everyone to work out their family relationships, whether you are brother, sister, auntie, uncle, cousin, niece or nephew. If you don’t know your Galharra, then you’d be lost wherever you go.
