About the Artwork:
Since the Creation Times, animals, birds and fish have provided us with food, clothing, warmth, and decorations for our ceremonies. We shared our world with all that lives, and know the seasons of gestation, birth, and maturity, hunting and gathering only at times of maturity and abundance to ensure that all living things continue to flourish.
About the Artist:
Film-maker, Archivist and Recorder of Cultural History and Knowledge, and Publisher, Lorraine Coppin with her partner, Michael Woodley, conceived and developed the Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation and Juluwarluâs Archive, Language, Media and Cultural Centre in 2000. Over the past 20 years, Lorraine has created and coordinated Juluwarluâs Cultural Mapping on Country projects, Womenâs Culture and Language on Country Projects, undertaken the building of the nationally recognized Yindjibarndi Archive. Lorraine leads the way for Juluwarlu to find new dynamic ways to tell Yindjibarndi cultural stories from Ngurra Nyjungggamu (When the World Was Soft) through the production of multi media film, performance, sculpture, 2D paintings, illustration, video and light installation.
